Well Deserved Comfort

After a long day of hard labor there's nothing better than a hot shower and a cozy bed to lie in. Jason and I just finished getting the house ready for potential buyers. We put it on the market tomorrow.

I worked for Our365 this morning and then went over to the house to start working right afterwards. I worked at the house from 2pm to 10pm. I don't think I've ever worked that hard before. I'm finding bruises and scratches all over me and my feet and hands are raw and sore. But really all that truly matters is that it's complete. We of course may have to do a few touch-ups here and there, but the hard strenuous labor is over. When I got home I went straight into the bathroom and took a hot shower. It was probably my most well deserved shower and it felt amazing. I wish there was a way to take a shower sitting down. I guess you could have a bigger shower with a sit built in, that would be perfect. Now I'm laying in bed and ready to pass out, Jason won't stop talking. Sometimes all I need is quit and comfort. Good night!

The Little Things

I love discovering a new feminine product and having it become part of your daily routine, say you get a new scented body wash or shampoo. I recently used one of those new razors with the shaving cream built on the razor. It sounds kind of weirdly unsanitary, but it works so well. My sister had one and I used it when she was visiting me to shave my legs and it was amazing. It's made by Intuition, scented with milk and honey and has Shea Butter lotion built on, surrounding the razor. It was a little pricey, but it comes with 2 extra razor/lotion combos, you never have to buy shaving cream, and those steps are eliminated. My legs have never felt so smooth. I had no cuts and I really couldn't feel it as it went over my skin. It made me think it wasn't working so I went over my legs twice, but I really don't think I needed to. It just works that well. I'll keep the lids of the razor/lotion securely fastened, so no nastiness is generated. It also came with a razor holder with a suction cup on the back, so it hangs in the shower neatly and out of the way.

It's really the little things that can make you happier and more satisfied with your life sometime.

I also got a new scented deodorant that I'm enjoying, it's by Dove scented with waterlilly and freshmint. It smells great. Remember that when your feeling blue that buying even the smallest thing for yourself can easily help light up your day.

Another Case of Extremes

There's almost nothing better, after a long day of sweating and getting coated in dirt and plaster dust, than taking a shower and getting off all the grit. It's another case of extremes amplifying each other. You don't really appreciate getting clean until you've been really, really grimy. I'll give a shout out to my peeps in the middle ages. They know what I'm talking about.

And speaking of extremes, we made so much progress on the house this weekend. It really finally feels like a home, and not a constant construction zone. And we appreciate the difference. A lot. If any of you ever want to take a look and come hang out for a while, shoot us an email. It's an open invitation (except to you readers we don't know — you'll need to pass a two-hour screening process and a thorough background check before entering the premises. Please bring an exhaustive family tree, cross-referenced with disease and crime histories...and be welcome.)

Our first visitors will be arriving this Wednesday. Kate's parents, sister, brother-in-law and two nephews are coming into town. Can't wait, guys!

As Hot as You Can Stand It (And Then Subtract a Bit)

I love a really hot shower in the morning. And I stress the temperature, because a shower is just a means to stay clean. A really hot shower is much more. It's a stress reliever, a muscle relaxant, a decongestant, and an exfoliate, depending on just how hot you can stand it.

For me, on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being absolute zero Kelvin, or −459.67° Fahrenheit, and 10 being the temperature of a star at supernova, or three billion degrees Fahrenheit, my preferred shower temp would fall right around 1.2. Doesn't sound very impressive, I know, and points to a possible flaw in my scale selection. Trust me though...it's a scalder.

It's not quite hot enough to braise a chicken, but it's close. I often have major knots in my neck and spine when I wake up, and a hot shower is the only thing that adequately loosens up my muscles and melts the tension. Plus the steam opens up your airways and soothes a cough, if you have one. And the shock of nearly burning away your outer layer of skin does a nice job of waking you up.

I don't take it that hot. That was just for effect.
