Advise is Precious

I really wish I had a talent to give good advise all the time. It's hard to be comforting and understanding all the time. I admire psychologists who can listen and give humbly advise constantly.

My friend Brooke had her show this weekend and she was not happy about how it turned out, so much that she was beating herself up. I just wish I would have been able to give her better advise and make her feel better about herself and her show. It really was a funny show, yes some of the comedians were not team players, but that wasn't her fault. They are professionals and they should act like it.

My positive for this blog entry is the admiration I have for people who are give unconditional advise to folks in need. The people that people go to when they need to talk and know they will feel better about themselves afterwards. I wish I had that ability and I'm grateful for those kind of people that exist. Maybe one day I will have all the correct answers, I will strive to be that attentive and understanding.

There's Always Tomorrow Night

In homage to the fact that I'm not going to get a lot of sleep tonight let me say that there's always tomorrow night. Until you're dead, you can always catch up on sleep.

Miss two nights in a row? Not a big deal. You'll sleep well the third. Granted you'll have to get through the intervening days. To help, just keep your goal in mind, what you're pushing toward. That eventual moment when you fall asleep, stay and asleep and make up for all the deprivation you'd subjected yourself to prior.

It almost makes the make-up sleep all that much sweeter. It's like a well-earned reward instead of a humdrum regularity.

For me, tonight, my goal is Friday night. I'll be making up for most of this week. And it's going to be great.

Bloody Good Morning

That was Kate's joke, but I'm stealing it. Kate makes a mean Bloody Mary, one of which I'm enjoying as I write this entry. Lazy Saturdays, sans rain, plus sunshine, plus Bloody Mary mix multiplied by good company, a farmer's market and a list of things to keep us productive results in an uplifted mood and a happy morning. And it's bleeding into a nice afternoon.

And what's shaping up to be a perfect, productive weekend. Kate's almost done going through all of her recent photographs, at which point we're going to put together her online portfolio, buy a URL and start her advertising. Plus Sunday she has a gig shooting outdoor portrait shots of some person's young daughter for headshot use. I've got two companies lined up that want web design work and advertising. All I have to do is get them out a price quote. Sunday we're hopefully doing brunch with some friends at Miss Shirleys. Then we're going to install some extra air-conditioning units.

Lots of good stuff to fill up an otherwise blissfully blank weekend. You can't see it, but I'm raising my red plastic cup and toasting all of you. Or rather I would be, if I were. But it's the sentiment that counts. Have a great weekend.
