Paid Adventures

People travel for work all the time and I once had to travel to different states every month for weeks at a time when I was working on Wife Swap. Tomorrow I am traveling to New Rochelle, NY for a photography gig. I'm really looking forward to it and I'm not nervous at all about it. Especially since this will be my third event I've done for this family. They are paying me good money to come to three ladies 45th Birthday Party, what an awesome gig. I will be staying with Lauren in Harlem tomorrow night, so I get to hang out with my dear friend once again and see her NY apartment. Here's to a Paid NY Adventure!

New Jewelry

I got the best jewelry for my birthday. Jason's family really understand what I like especially since we've been together so long. Karin got me four beautiful necklaces, all of them very different from the last. Jan got me two beautiful earrings from her trip to Alaska. They are made from local craftsmen. My friend Kate, got me earrings while we were at the Ren Fest, which I just adore. I love when I suddenly go from having nothing new to having a bunch of new things all at once, all that I really enjoy. Last night we went to a friend's birthday party and I wore one of Karin's necklaces with Jan's earrings, they went great together. Thanks all for the best gifts.

Sushi, Sushi

I really enjoy good quality sushi. I love how fresh it tastes and it never seems to make me feel gross no matter how much I eat. I love rolls with eel and eel sauce, spicy scallop rolls, tuna rolls, lump crab meat and avocado rolls, and so much more. I really will try any roll and most of the time really enjoy it. I like nigiri a lot too. It's just a wonderful break from normal American fair. I also really enjoy the salads, tempura, edamame, and miso soups you get at Japanese restaurants. Yummmm...

I recommend the new place we checked out for my birthday Joss Cafe Sushi Bar, it's a popular sushi place out of Annapolis and recently opened a location on Charles St. in Baltimore.

Fun Times Close by

I really looking forward to this weekend. It's My Birthday Weekend! Friday I have a wedding to shoot, which will be a lot of fun hard work, then on Saturday Jason and I are chilling and my friend Lauren in coming into town, there's a few street festivals that day and then we might stop by Julianna's husbands 30th birthday surprise. Sunday is the day we're celebrating my birthday at the MD Renaissance Festival. It's always a great time. A few of my friends should be stopping by. It's weird for me to finally start seeing weekends for what they really are instead of just more days off for the unemployed. I feel like I'm fully employed with my photography gigs, Our365, Arbonne start up work and with studying for the Praxis every night. I wish I could see the results in monetary form, but it will accumulate with time.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week we're going to Ocean City with Jason's Dad, Step Mom, Stephanie, John and little Jackson. That should be a great little break from all the mind-scrabbling hecticness that is my life.

The Great Outdoors with the Ladies

I went camping with Lauren for her birthday with a bunch of ladies, most I already knew. It was a great time, I really love camping, hiking, and now tubing. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I really felt one with nature and now I really want to be near nature a lot more often. All the ladies invited along were fun and enjoyable to be around.

I got to have more girl-therapy, which is always needed. I met Emily, Lauren's friend from NY, and she was very nice and just a great person to be around. It was wonderful hanging out with Lauren, today is her official Birthday. Happy Birthday Lolly!


I can't wait till I get to hang out with her again. We stayed in what the camp called tree houses which were just small cabins on stilts. I just loved every moment of it. We went tubing, which is just floating down a big river on a tube (we brought coolers of beer and you float them along with you). It was beautiful and very relaxing and fun. I really recommend doing it. We did the hour and a half float up the river twice. A wonderfully fulfilled experience. I love those ladies, we're thinking of getting together like this every year. I really hope we do.

Hearing my nephews talk

I love hearing my nephews talk to me over the phone. Yesterday was Blake's 2nd birthday and I wished him a happy birthday over the phone and heard him say my name and everything. Both of them are growing up so fast. I truly can't wait to meet them again in person in a couple days and hear them face to face. I hope we become instant friends again. I love you both very much. Happy Birthday Blake. See you both in a couple of days. I will share some new photos of them with you all once they get here.

Stephanie Bloom Miller

Today is my sister's birthday - Happy Birthday Steph! Since this is a blog all about the positive, I can't think of a better place or time to call out Steph for being one the coolest people I know. It also doesn't hurt that she's one of our regular readers, so I know she'll see this.

Bloom. Bloom Miller. Miller. Mamabird. Whatever you prefer these days. You're an awesome chick. You've always been your own person, and you the older you get the more you distinguish yourself. No matter what role you take on in life, you take it on with gusto and passion, and claim it wholeheartedly as your own. As a hipster in high school and college, you embodied the image without being a caricature. As a waitress you were loved, as the bottles of Dom Perignon gifted by grateful customers attest. You seem to know as much, if not more, than most dental surgeons, without a day of schooling. You're a photographer, a gardener and a pet therapist, all claimed with equal vigor. As a sister, you're devoted and thoughtful, and I can say with no reservations that once you formally step into the role of "Mommy" you'll do a smashing job.

I've had the pleasure of knowing you your whole life, and most of mine. I've seen some pretty poor examples of sibling relationships over the years, and I'm pretty blessed to have been able to grow up with you as a friend. I'm quite sure I wouldn't be half the person I am today if I hadn't had you around. I have friends that grew up as only children, and I'm glad that wasn't something I had to face. Having a sibling around helped kill boredom and turned everyday into a play date. I can't imagine having grown up any other way. And of all the 29,000,000,000,000 alternate genetic combinations Mom and Dad could have scrambled out back in 1977, none could have been better than you.

Happy Birthday Steph. I'm glad to be your brother, and I'm glad that I can make you "Positive Thing Number 101." Love you.
